Check out the
JurnosWiki -- it's our lists of resources,
including:
-- what's starting to be a pretty
comprehensive list of niche news organizations....please join the
wiki and add to it. Info on how to join the wiki is on the start
page of JurnosWiki.
- -- case studies of topic-based or
geographic-based niche news sites or networks, including
WestSeattleBlog and QuincyNews.org. There's a template in that
section in case you want to add your own.
- -- some good how-tos for setting up
your business, including a basic business assessment tool to help
you decide if you should really take the plunge into
entrepreneurial journalism.
- -- a growing number of links to other
resources, including blogs, social media info, webinars, and
workshops.
The wiki is also a place that Collaboratory members can work
together to develop their own projects. Sometimes you just need a
wiki in addition to a Ning site like the Collaboratory to get
things done.
A wiki can help you:
- Define projects on which the teams will work, and
defining tasks within those projects.
- Organize teams: Who will be on each team, and what tasks
is each team member responsible for?
- Update progress: Simply, which tasks have been completed
and when.
One example of a project is
BUILDING BLOCKS where we're putting ideas for a
resource guide on how to launch a niche news site.
