I'd like to thank Mark Glaser of MediaShift for steering me here and I'm hoping the Collaboratory will provide me with the online-journalism community, practical information and resources I've been lacking.

My media site, Geniocity.com, has just added a new blogger: Charlie Eby, who will write about innovations in electronic arts and entertainment such as gaming and films, in "Media Man: Electronic and Mainstream Arts." I hope you'll check it out at www.geniocity.com.

Profile Information
What kind of org do you work for?
news organization
What do you do?
journalist, businessperson
What strengths/expertise do you have to offer?
I worked for major daily newspapers and magazines as an arts journalist for 30 years before launching my own online media business in June 2008. In addition to my thorough knowledge of performing-art forms, nonprofit operations, and arts-related economic-development, education and government-policy issues, I've also been through the crash course in for-profit business and web technology required of anyone who starts her own online company.
What kind of help/insight do you hope to get from this community?
I'm hoping to find resources, including advice and perspective, that will help me better populate, market and capitalize my business and take it from its current newborn stage as a small blog and retail site to the larger and more comprehensive news outlet I envision.
