I would love to share my success story on how I started a profitable community paper/magazine 15 years ago so I could work from home, raise my family, and serve the community by providing information about this place we call "home". I think this wou…
Welcome to the RJI Collaboratory! You bring some really important insight to the conversation as someone who's managed to support a community newspaper, and is trying to figure out how to translate that into digital media. Look around the network a bit, and if you don't see the topics or activities you're interested in already, feel free to introduce them. We're all about getting things done!

What do you do?
advertising/marketing professional
What strengths/expertise do you have to offer?
I have successfully published a monthly paper for my community-East Cobb County--for the past 15 years. My mission statement from day one has been "to create a sense of community in East Cobb County" by providing civic information and spotlighting people doing good in the community. This is a profitable business that allows me to work from home, use my professional marketing communications background, stay involved in my community while raising my 3 children (ages 12, 10 & 8). I also started a community Parade and Festival.
What kind of help/insight do you hope to get from this community?
I created the free monthly publication, EAST COBBER, in 1993 to serve East Cobb County residents by providing a forum for them to share their ideas and a source for them to learn more about their community. I also publish the annual EAST COBBER Community Guide and producer of the annual EAST COBBER Community Parade and Festival.
I want to leverage my print publications into a more viable website. I want to learn how to use twitter, facebook to promote my paper and reach out to readers. I want to learn how to incorporate podcasts, video streaming and other web-based programs to serve my community/readers better.
Once I get a new and improved formula, I'd like to share with other mompreneurs to show them how they can make money, serve their community and be home with their kids.
