created and ran online new site in failed foray. carry urgency to create business models, not just great journalism.
What kind of help/insight do you hope to get from this community?
interested in where business side of local webcentric independent news sites is these days...
I think we should use the RJI Collaboratory incubator to develop:
Building blocks for geographic- or topic-based local Web news sites, Business assessment tools for local Web news sites, "How-To" handbook, Backgrounder on web advertising, Systems to match ads to relevant news content, News apps and widgets, Ways to send mobile alerts via content management systems, Standardized platform for mobile apps, Twitter as tool for news sites to channel local business, Clearinghouse of experts to help launch new services
