RJI News Collaboratory

Hi -- the National Association of Hispanic Journalists is looking for some input from entrepreneurial journalists who want to help form training curriculum for our national convention this year in Denver (this summer).

We are forming a planning committee and we need one or two people to advise -- preferrably Latino or Spanish speakers -- ASAP. Sorry for the short notice. Please call Jessica, NAHJ Region 3 director, (I'm a member of this Ning group, and I founded and edit a directory of indep. online news start-ups) at 570-348-9447.

My site: InOtherNew.us

Thanks,
Jessica

Hi Jessica, here's another pair of suggestions of folks who might be able to help in some fashion with the program:

David Chase, publisher of Sun Valley (ID) Online. David's email is dave@sunvalleyonline.com; phone (208) 578-4119. And here's more about the project. He's within striking distance of Denver too.

Also worth contacting is Mark Potts of Growthspur (more).

Let us know if we can be helpful in other ways too!

Hi Amy, I apologize for the delay in responding to your comment. We have a committee intact and I found a person in Chicago who not only teaches journalism and new media at the college level, but also runs a blog for Latinas.

I am still open to finding panelists or trainers in the Denver area for the convention. I'm looking for accountants, attorneys and people with small business skills to help with the entrepreneurial journalism curriculum, such as people who can give advice the process of getting into business, finding money, grants, registering a business, etc. They do not have to speak Spanish. We will also have a multimedia component, too, but a different task force on the convention committee is working on that.

I'd love any advice you might have on an entrepreneurial journalism training curriculum.

Thanks,
Jessica

Hi, Jessica

Could you be more specific about what qualitifications/experience your looking for in these journalists, other than that they speak Spanish?

Thanks,

- Amy Gahran
