ONA "Fund My Media" Workshop: RJI Liveblogging/tweeting tomorrow

Tomorrow (Thurs Oct. 1), Amy Gahran of the RJI Collaboratory (that's me) will be attending Fund My Media Startup -- a daylong workshop by J-Lab offered before the Online News Association 2009 conference in San Francisco. (See below for complete workshop details.)

The RJI Collaboratory home page will feature this CoverItLive liveblog during the event. After the event, the content will be archived on in Collaboratory.

THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE. If you're not going to ONA, or to this workshop, use the liveblog to follow the action and offer your questions and comments. I'll ask your questions on your behalf.

I'll also be shooting video of the event, including interviews with presenters and attendees. I'll post this content to the Collaboratory on Friday.

In addition, I'll be live-tweeting the event. Follow RJIcollab on Twitter.

To see more Twitter coverage of the entire ONA 2009 conference, monitor the hashtag #ONA09 and follow ONA09.

Also, keep watching RJIcollab throughout the conference, which runs through Oct. 3 -- Adam Glenn is attending the full conference and will be tweeting updates.

FUND MY MEDIA STARTUP WORKSHOP DETAILS (from the ONA 2009 site):

Instructor: Jan Schaffer, Executive Director, J-Lab at American University: The Institute for Interactive Journalism

This all-day workshop, supported by a grant from the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation, shows how new forms of foundation-funded or grant-funded media are emerging in the new media ecosystem — and how you can join them.

The digital streets of American are rife with journalists looking to practice their craft and their passion outside the strictures of a traditional, brand-name newsroom. Jan will lead a day of practical advice — and cautionary tales — for those thinking about striking out on their own. She’ll cover starting a site from scratch, looking for funding, making the choice about non-profit or ad-driven models and how to define success.

What you’ll learn:
